Enrolment Process
We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all families seeking an exceptional educational journey for their children. At Sacred Heart College, we believe in nurturing academic excellence, faith, personal growth, character development and a strong sense of community. Our commitment to providing a holistic and enriching learning experience sets us apart as an institution dedicated to helping young minds flourish.
We invite you to take the first step in joining the Sacred Heart family by completing an Expression of Interest for enrolment. Your decision marks the beginning of a partnership aimed at fostering a love for learning and preparing your child for a future full of promise and opportunity.
Enrolment selection is a very complex process, incorporating the Enrolment Priorities set out by CEWA’s Executive Directive, as well as any pastoral considerations or context.
Entry into Year 7
Step 1 - Expression of Interest
The first step in your enrolment journey is the completion of an Expression of Interest (EOI) Form, which registers your interest in having your child considered for enrolment at Sacred Heart College.
EOIs are due by December of Year 4 and require a non-refundable fee of $90 per student.
Please note: due to the high demand for places at Sacred Heart College and the number of applications we receive from the categories outlined in the Enrolment Policy, we are often unable to consider non-Catholic applications until either later in Year 7 or into later year groups.
Step 2 - Enrolment Application
In January of Year 5, parents/caregivers will be invited to complete a full application, including all the student’s details and supporting documents. During this period, we also invite EOI families to attend a Year 7 specific Group College Tour to explore the campus facilities and opportunities.
Please note: this stage requires the completion of a Parish Priest Reference Form, which must be dated within six months of the commencement of the enrolment application process. Please only submit a reference if your child is entering Year 5 or above next year.
Step 3 - Enrolment Interview or Placement into the Waiting Pool
In early March of Year 5, families who have completed a full application will be advised whether they have been offered an interview for potential enrolment or placed in the Waiting Pool for future enrolment consideration. Selection is based on CEWA’s Enrolment Directives.
Step 4 - Enrolment Offers or Placement into the Waiting Pool
In late June of Year 5, families are advised whether they have been offered enrolment or placed in the Waiting Pool for future enrolment consideration. Students placed in our Waiting Pool will be considered for enrolment as future places become available due to declined offers or withdrawals.
It is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver to ensure details and documents are kept up to date.
When a place becomes available, we refer to our Waiting Pool, review all applications and offer an interview for potential enrolment.
Step 5 - Offer of Enrolment
Families who are offered enrolment are given a period of time to consider and accept their offer. Once enrolment is accepted and the enrolment fee is paid, parents/caregivers will be kept up to date with information night details, uniform fittings and Orientation activities held in Term 4 of Year 6.
Entry into Years 8-12
Step 1 - Expression of Interest
The first step in your enrolment journey is the completion of an Expression of Interest (EOI) Form, which registers your interest in having your child considered for enrolment at Sacred Heart College.
EOIs require a non-refundable fee of $90 per student.
Step 2 - Enrolment Application
Once an EOI has been submitted, parents/caregivers will be invited to complete a full application, including all of the student’s details and supporting documents.
Step 3 - Placement into the Waiting Pool
As Sacred Heart College is often full in all cohorts, applications are placed into our Waiting Pool for future enrolment consideration as places become available due to student withdrawals. It is the parent/caregiver’s responsibility to ensure details and documents are kept up to date.
There is no predetermined priority order set with our Waiting Pools and selection is based on CEWA’s Enrolment Directives, as well as pastoral care considerations.
Step 4 - Enrolment Interview
As places become available, the Principal will invite the most suitable students for an interview for potential enrolment, as well as offer a tour of the College if this has not already taken place.
As we believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive community where every student can thrive, and to ensure that new students align with our Core Values and contribute positively to our vibrant community, a reference check will be conducted following a successful interview.
Reference checks will be completed by a senior member of staff, ideally with the Head of Year (or equivalent) at the applicants’ current school.
Please rest assured that we will obtain permission from parents/caregivers before conducting these checks as we work together to maintain the integrity and ethos of our College.
Step 5 - Offer of Enrolment
A successful interview will lead to an offer of enrolment. Parents/caregivers will be given a period of time to consider and accept the offer.
Once enrolment is accepted and the enrolment fee is paid, parents/caregivers will be contacted by the relevant year group’s Assistant Deputy Principal to discuss subject selection, uniform fittings and orientation plans.
