Pathways

Sacred Heart College is committed to educating the whole person and encouraging every student to live out our school motto - Always Striving Upwards.

The College offers the below pathways for students:

University Pathway

The College has a history of success in students obtaining a university pathway and has consistently ranked across the top 25 schools in WA.

A university pathway can be achieved in the following ways:

a) ATAR entry

Students complete a minimum of four ATAR courses in Years 11 and 12 and complete ATAR examinations. The results are used to calculate the student’s ATAR which is used for university entrance.

Alternatively, certain universities have an early offer program which allows students to apply using their predicated ATAR.

b) CareerLink (VET) entry

Year 12 students can pursue an alternative university pathway through the College’s VET program, CareerLink. As part of this program, students study six courses (five of which are encouraged to be General subjects) and spend Tuesdays off campus completing a Certificate IV or participating in work placement.

Successful completion of a Certificate IV awards students a nominal ATAR of 70, which provides eligibility for entry to most Western Australian universities (excluding The University of Western Australia).

c) UniReady entry

Sacred Heart College offers students the opportunity to complete the Curtin UniReady Enabling Program while in Year 12. The completion of this program awards students with an ATAR of 70 and English competency, providing eligibility for entry to most Western Australian universities.

d) Rising Scholar's Program

Selected Year 10s in the Gifted and Talented program are offered the opportunity to participate in the Curtin Rising Scholar’s Program, allowing them to sit university level courses and gain credits while completing secondary education.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) Pathway

Largely facilitated by CareerLink, the College's VET pathway offers sutudents the opportunity to sit many courses at TAFE or Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) while completing their secondary education.

a) CareerLink to TAFE/Trade

Students spend Tuesdays off campus completing a Certificate II, III or IV at a Registered Training Organisation or on work placement. They also study six General or VET courses in Years 11 and 12, including English and Religious Education.
