Faith

Rooted in the traditions of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (RNDM), Sacred Heart College fosters a deep and active commitment to Catholic faith and values.

Our Core Purpose is to "develop our students to respond to Jesus by striving for personal excellence, having the courage of their convictions and being active agents of change". The College’s motto, Always Striving Upwards (Semper Superne Nitens), calls each person to spiritual growth and moral courage.

Through prayer, service and witness, we invite every member of our community to grow in faith, Always Striving Upwards - to you, our God.

Evangelisation in Daily Life

The College’s Evangelisation Plan (2023–2026) guides our mission to "proclaim the Good News of Salvation" through joyful witness, service and compassion. Inspired by Evangelii Gaudium, it challenges us to bring faith into the heart of our community - showcasing Christ’s love, joy, and the “smell of the sheep” in all we do.

Pastoral Care: Faith in Relationships

Our Pastoral Care structure ensures each student experiences faith through daily relationships and community support. Students are grouped in Pastoral Care Groups, led by a teacher who remains with them from Year 7 to 12, integrating prayer, reflection, and care into everyday life. This approach mirrors the Biblical shepherd - "I am the good shepherd" (John 10:14) - who knows and cares for each flock member.

The Spiritual Pillar of Our Four Pillars

Faith is at the core of our Spiritual Pillar which shapes extracurricular life. Through weekly masses, liturgies, reflection days, retreats and outreach programs, students earn Spiritual Pillar points and deepen their connection to faith.

Prayer & Liturgy

Regular liturgies include whole-school Masses in the Koort Centre, House Feast Day Masses and year-level celebrations. These masses and liturgies are led by Fr Cyprian (Our Lady of the Missions Parish Craigie) and Fr Hyginus (Our Lady of Grace Parish North Beach).

Year 12 students and staff can strengthen their understanding and connection with the Eucharist by becoming extraordinary Special Ministers of the Eucharist.

Mission & Outreach

Faith in action is central at Sacred Heart. A highlight is our Year 11 Kimberley and Vietnam Immersions, a pilgrimage focused on walking the footsteps of the RNDM Sisters in these regions, cultural understanding, service and solidarity. These experiences cultivate empathy and a lifelong commitment to justice and Gospel values.

Our Young Vinnies group, comprised of students in Years 7-12, demonstrate faith in action and assist Catholic organisations who assist the homeless or less fortunate in our community.

Inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals and Pope Francis’ Encyclical letter Laudato Si’, our Eco Hearts students work to promote sustainability within our school, as well as our local and wider communities.
